We had a really good session at the service user meeting at St.Anne’s. We arrived and set the Soundbeam up and while we were doing it had 10 very interested people waiting to see what was going to happen. After a brief introduction we were really pleased as all but one of the people there were really eager to have a go. We got them to come up individually to play and manipulate the Soundbeam in a way that was unique to their own movements. As the session went really well, we are looking forward to hopefully going back for further sessions.
Affinity Trust Week 8
Today we had a really good session at the Affinity Trust. Nathan and Steven used the Soundbeam for a really long time and it was amazing to see how much they are enjoying it. We started getting Nathan to use his imagination and play the beam with different parts of his body – we put the beams low down and high up and he was ducking down and jumping up and also playing it with his feet.
Steven is also responding really well, compared to the first week when he was quite timid as we were unusal people in his familiar surroundings, he has really come out of his shell with food being the only thing that will stop him from using the Soundbeam. We have definitely noticed a massive increase in limb control as he learns to play the beams in a more audible fashion.
Affinity Trust Week 7
Today saw us visit the Affinity Trust for another Soundbeam session. It was quite difficult today as there was a new student there that was having a few difficulties being in a new place, so we did not get a lot done. On a brighter note a few of the students have been on holiday and are returning so hopefully next time we can carry on with the good work we have started with the Affinity Trust.
Affinity Trust Week 6
Affinity Trust Week 5
This week we performed a session to a new student at the Affinity Trust, which had mixed results. Hopefully in future weeks, when he becomes more familiar with his surroundings and the Soundbeam, he will enjoy using the equipment as much as everyone else does.
Affinity Trust Week 4
Week 4 at the Affinity Trust saw us introducing the equipment to a new person who responded really well to it.
Affinity Trust Week 3
In our third session at the Affinity Trust we created a band scenario whereby 3 people were creating music together – 1 playing the foot pedals and the other 2 on the beams. This worked really well as they all reacted off each other. The students then had some creative time on their own with Nathan even getting a guitar involved – controlling the beams, foot pedals and the guitar required some true multi-tasking!
Affinity Trust Week 2

Today saw us visit the Affinity Trust in Holbeck again for our second session. The morning went very well with three people enjoying the sensory experience.

Affinity Trust
Today saw Dan and John take the Soundbeam to the Affinity Trust in Leeds to run a session with 9 of their members. It was a chance to use the visual software and demonstrate how to use the Soundbeam to produce animations on the computer – which proved very popular with the participants. They will be returning next week to run another session.
